As I was packing to leave for Dallas on Wednesday, it was 75 degrees outside and I was quite warm. I picked up my green sweater, bemusedly remembering back to the trip out to California and how I foolishly thought I'd only need the sweater, because it never snows here and it never snows there and it was only Thanksgiving. Turned out of course we get hit by a huge snow storm and get stranded in Albuquerque. So I giggled thinking "ha, like that's going to happen twice in one month, and it's hot outside, I'll just bring this sweater".

So guess what my reaction was as I'm driving to Dealey Plaza yesterday and it starts MUTHAFUKIN SNOWING on my ass.

Thankfully, since it was 75 degrees the day before, nothing stuck for several hours and driving wasn't an issue. I was cold as fuck laughing my ass off about it and had the best time cruising around Downtown Dallas with Rob and my dad. We ended up on the sixth floor of the School Book Depository, feet from where Oswald supposedly was, looking out the window watching the snow fall for a while. We then had a tasty lunch at a pasta place, bought some booze and brought it back to the hotel since it was soooo very cold outside. It snowed through the night and it really stuck to the ground, so everything was beautiful and white in the morning. We built a snow man at my Aunt Toni's, although it was very leafy since the snow was too powdery to pack very well. Christmas dinner and present opening was enjoyable as always.

We're coming back to Austin tomorrow... hopefully the kitties have been good....

I must say, I'm quite chuffed with myself right now. I made, get this, 48 fridge magnets today. It was awesome! I got eight pictures I took in the last year that I liked, adjusted the hue and saturation in various areas to get trippy effects, and printed out six copies of each as a 3"x4" picture using my mom's laser printer. She gave me a big roll of soft magnet that one normally uses as "bumper sticker material". This was a little floppy, so I hot glued chunks of it to the backs of 3"x4" cardboard pieces I cut from the otherwise useless box to my Aerobed. I then used regular glue to glue the pictures onto the other side of the cardboard pieces, giving me a nice lightweight but stiff magnet.

From there I started using alphabet beads to glue little funny sayings to the magnets. However, the stupid alphabet beads only had like 5 E's total, even though there were shitloads of X's and W's and Z's. WTF! I needed E's and A's! And lots of 'em! So after I ran out of beads I stopped to go to bed. I can't sleep though so I'm typing here. I had a lot of fun playing with the xacto knife but after getting to a certain point of sleep deprivation I figured it wasn't such a good idea to use it anymore. I'll have to just cut the rest of my letters from magazines I guess.

But yeah, I feel really lucky I had all this stuff lying around. I suck at giving christmas presents and always blamed it on money, so the fact that I actually have christmas presents for people AND I didn't spend money is huge for me.
